Kaizer Chiefs are in desperate need of a squad makeover ahead of the 2023-24 season and they are reportedly eyeing a number of big-name.
The Soweto giants finished the 2022-23 season without a trophy for the eighth consecutive season, their longest drought in history. They also failed to qualify for the CAF Champions League, which is a major blow to the club’s reputation.
In an effort to end their trophy drought, Chiefs are reportedly targeting a number of experienced players to compete at the highest level.
Here are five players who Chiefs are reportedly interested in signing
Thulani Serero: The former Ajax Amsterdam and Al Jazira midfielder is a free agent and would be a valuable addition to Chiefs’ midfield.
Andile Jali: The Bafana Bafana international is also a free agent and would bring a wealth of experience to the Chiefs midfield.
Junior Mendieta: The Stellenbosch FC forward is one of the most exciting young players in South Africa and would be a great addition to Chiefs’ attack.
Ranga Chivaviro: The Marumo Gallants striker is a proven goal scorer in the PSL and would provide Chiefs with much-needed firepower up front.
Sphelele Mkhulise: The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is a talented player who has struggled to get regular game time at Chloorkop. He could be a good option for Chiefs if they are looking for a creative midfielder.

Could a new coach be the answer?
In addition to signing new players, Chiefs may also need to consider a change of coach. Arthur Zwane has been in charge of the team since December 2021, but he has yet to produce the results that the club is demanding.
Chiefs have been critical of Zwane’s team’s lack of creativity and attacking flair, as they have won just 13 of the 28 games.
If Chiefs do decide to change coaches, they will need to find a replacement who has a proven track record of success in South Africa.
