Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has discussed the future of the club’s long-term captain Itumeleng Khune and coach Arthur Zwane.
Zwane guided Chiefs to the Nedbank Cup semi-final, where they will face arch-nemesis Orlando Pirates.
The club legend is in his first season as head coach and is also chasing a second-place finish in the league. Finishing as runners-up to already crowned Mamelodi Sundowns will guarantee them CAF Champions League football next season.

On the other hand, Khune has his contract expiring at the end of the season, having been at the club since he was 12.
Motaung is convinced Zwane is on the right track and needs more time to rebuild the squad.
BOBBY MOTAUNG DISCUSSES ARTHUR ZWANE’S FUTURE
“We’ve assembled a new team, he’s a new coach, we need to give him time,” Motaung said.
“We need to build on what we started. So we believe in him. That’s why we have him here.
“If we didn’t believe in him, we would never have given him a chance. I think we believed in him and must help and build the team with him. It’s about the future.
“I mean, if you look at the team, it’s a young team. We can only help and support him with any support system that he needs or technical support. We’ll support him.
“But he’s doing a good job, as you can see.”
Motaung went on to touch on the contract of veteran goalkeeper Khune. The 35-year-old is the longest-serving member of the current Chiefs squad.
After coming through the club’s youth structures, the late Ted Dumitru promoted Khune in 2004. However, Zwane has recently preferred Brandon Petersen in goals, reducing him to a bit-part player.
“We’re in discussions about that (Khune contract). We’re also talking about other players whose contracts expire at the end of the season.”
The former Bafana Bafana captain boasts of a trophy haul that includes three league titles, two MTN8 Cups, three Telkom Knockouts and one Nedbank Cup with Amakhosi.
He hopes to add another Nedbank Cup this year as his career reaches twilight.
