Chippa United mulling another coaching change

Chippa United are reportedly mulling another coaching change which would be the fifth of the season.

The Eastern Cape side are in the murky waters of relegation as they sit in 15th place.

After going through a slump recently, Chippa demoted Kurt Lentjies to the DDC side.

Siyabonga Gwambi then took over as interim coach with six games remaining.

Gwambi has since lost two against Marumo Gallants in the DStv Premiership and Sekhukhune United in the Nedbank Cup.

Their next assignment in the league is a tricky one as they face a Kaizer Chiefs side that is desperate for a second place finish.

Chiefs have been doing well lately and could prove tricky customers.

Ahead of that fixture that could further plunge them into relegation, Chippa Mpengesi, the club’s boss, is reportedly engaging Lehlohonolo Seema.

The fixture is set for the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 27 April.

Seema recently joined Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League side, Peace Makers FC.

The 42-year-old mentor expressed his delight to work with upcoming footballers at his new club.

“It’s a team with young players. You know the Under-23 rule. I’m just excited that I will be working with youngsters,” he said.

The ex-Lesotho International said he was not going to change anything when he took over the side.

Seema is now considering the return to the DStv Premiership.

He will not be new to the Chilli Boys, having been there for two stints.

The former Likuena captain helped them avoid the chop yet he was still axed by the club.

At the start of the season, the Chilli Boys were under the tutelage of Daine Klate.

He got the axe after seven matches with Mpengesi saying his style of play was not good enough.

Administrator-turned-coach Morgan Mamilla succeeded him and was only in charge for five months.

Lentjies, who had saved the team last season, took over from Mamilla after his short spell.
