Contrasting fortunes for Orlando Pirates forwards

It is contrasting for two Orlando Pirates forwards ahead of the next transfer window.

When the season ends, Terrence Dzvukamanja, nominated for the Orlando Pirates’ Player of the Month award for February, will discuss a new contract.

On the other hand, Cameroonian forward Bienvenu Eva Nga will seek a move away from the Buccaneers after a nightmarish season.

Eva Nga joined Pirates from Chippa United after scoring 14 goals for the Eastern Cape side in the 2021/22 season.

However, he has fallen out of favour at the Bucs, with Jose Riveiro preferring other forward players.

The Cameroonian has featured 12 times for the Soweto giants this season, scoring just one goal. Of those 12, only five were starts right at the beginning of the season.

Although his Zimbabwean was overlooked at the start of the season, he has since turned around his fortunes.

Interestingly, the striker was vying for the club’s monthly gong and four other nominees – Monnapule Saleng, Tapelo Xoki, Thembinkosi Lorch and Sipho Chaine.

The nomination came after Dzvukamanja reclaimed his place in Jose Riveiro’s attack after spending the first half of the campaign in the cold.

In fact, Warriors sought a move away from Pirates in January, but that failed.

Riveiro handed him a sniff of a chance, and he grabbed it with both hands.

He has made successive appearances in the DStv Premiership, and in nine, he has scored four goals and provided one assist.

The 28-year-old has earned himself plaudits not only for his performances on the field but also for his work ethic and discipline.

“Terrence is due for a new deal at the end of the season. The coaches have made it clear they are happy with him, and he’s part of their plans next season.

“Eva Nga is frustrated, it’s not been a good start, and there is no indication from the coaches that he is part of their plans for next season. It looks like he will force a loan move ahead of next season,” a club source revealed.
