Wydad Casablanca coach Rulani Mokwena has named two clubs he could have gone to before joining the Moroccan giants. A visibly frustrated Mokwena was speaking following the club’s 2-2 draw with FUS Rabat.
Wydad, who have endured a difficult start to life in Morocco, slipped to third place after that result.
Addressing the club’s fanbase, Mokwena said he would not be explaining everytime the team loses.
“You can’t win every game so I can’t sit here everytime we don’t win and I have to explain this and that,” Mokwena told the media. He said the team was still new and still had to gel together.“Football is win, draw or lose. Wydad can’t win every game. We are a new team, everyone doesn’t want me to say this but we are literally a new team. It’s 26-new players.”

He picked two clubs he could have joined before Wydad. “I had option to join clubs that were playing in Champions League but when Sundowns played Wydad, I saw the passion of their fans and the love they had for me. This is why I chose Wydad because I could have gone to AS FAR [Rabat] or Raja Club Athletic.”

Mokwena said what he was witnessing was a lack of support and patience.
“What I see now, the lack of support and patience, it’s not easy, guys. What I see every week, throwing bottles and stuff, I don’t like it. Maybe some people don’t want me here for long, but that’s ok.”
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach who lost his grandmother recently. He said she got sick the day she saw pictures and videos of fans throwing bottles at him.
“My grandmother got sick the day pictures and videos went viral when some fans were throwing bottles at me. She was 86.”
