Veteran midfielder George Maluleka has opened up on his move to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Kruger United, outlining his objectives at the club.

Maluleka is believed to have signed a one-year contract with an option to extend for one more season. Kruger United are in their first Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign after promotion from the ABC Motsepe League. And the 35-year-old comes as arguably their top signing as they seek to impact in the second-tier league.

He brings in vast experience, having garnered close to 300 Betway Premiership appearances. At his prime, Maluleka played for SuperSport United, Ajax Cape Town, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu FC. Most importantly, he won five league titles with three different clubs.

And as he embarks on a new journey at Kruger United, Maluleka has outlined what he hopes to achieve at the club. “I’m so excited,” he said.

“The guys were very good, they were nice to me hence I feel like I am home. I feel like I’ve been here for weeks. Its only my first week but so far so good the trainings, the combos, there is understanding with me and the guys.

“I think firstly it’s important for me to be a human being besides the experience and everything that I come with to these guys. Like you say inspiration is important but also your contribution just to also let them know the ins and outs of the game.

“Just to push them, a little bit of encouragement from my side but togetherness is what I am here for to show them that its possible, this is where I also started as a young boy looking forward. First I want to inspire, I want contribute and closely push the guys,” added Maluleka.

Maluleka announced himself in the elite league in 2007. He moved at Ajax Cape Town in 2009 before returning to SuperSport United in 2012. After that he moved to Kaizer Chiefs in 2014 and was part of the squad that won the 2015 league title.

He left for Mamelodi Sundowns and was part of their success story in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Maluleka went on to join AmaZulu FC where he spent two seasons before being released at the end of last season.
