Whispers of a significant roster shakeup are circulating around Kaizer Chiefs as the club prepares for the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.

Chiefs players regrouped on Monday as they began pre-season under the watchful eye of incoming assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz and goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi

The timing of these potential departures coincides with the anticipated arrival of new head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is expected to take over the Amakhosi hot seat after fulfilling his commitments with AS FAR Rabat in Morocco. While official confirmation is pending, the recent arrivals of assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz and goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi suggest that the winds of change are already blowing through the club.

WHO IS LIKELY TO LEAVE KAIZER CHIEFS?

Reports suggest that four prominent players – Kegan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, and Sifiso Hlanti – could be on their way out of Naturena.

The players rumoured to be affected by this shakeup have all been key figures in recent seasons, but their departures could pave the way for a fresh start under Nabi’s leadership. Kegan Dolly, who arrived from Montpellier in 2021, has been a standout performer, contributing significantly in terms of goals and assists. Njabulo Ngcobo and Sifiso Hlanti, both acquired from Moroka Swallows, have been mainstays in the defence, while Siyethemba Sithebe, a 2022/23 signing from AmaZulu, has struggled to establish himself in the starting lineup.

With their contracts expiring at the end of the month, the club has reportedly opted not to renew the quartet’s deals, signalling a clear intent to reshape the squad. Notably, Ngcobo has already secured a move to Sekhukhune United, further fuelling speculation about the others’ futures.

While Chiefs has yet to officially confirm these departures, the writing seems to be on the wall for these four players. The club’s decision to part ways with them suggests a bold new direction under Nasreddine Nabi as he looks to build a team capable of reclaiming their former glory in the upcoming season.
