Rising star Relebogile Mofokeng is reportedly on the verge of signing a significantly improved contract with Orlando Pirates, following his impressive debut season with the Soweto giants.
The 19-year-old winger, a product of the SAFA-Transnet School of Excellence, has shone brightly for the Buccaneers, contributing crucial goals and assists.
Mofokeng’s exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a spot in the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Bafana coach Hugo Broos could call him up for the next two fixtures against Nigeria and Zimbabwe. It would be his first time in the senior national team.
Additionally, he is a contender for both the PSL Young Player of the Season and Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament awards.
WHICH OTHER PIRATES PLAYERS WILL BE REWARDED WITH NEW CONTRACTS?
Despite interest from several European clubs, including Wolves, Glasgow Rangers, and RB Salzburg, Orlando Pirates are keen to secure Relebogile Mofokeng’s future at the club.
The new deal is expected to be a significant upgrade from his current development contract, reflecting his growing importance to the team.

Meanwhile, Pirates are also looking to extend the contract of midfielder Thalenthe Mbatha. The on-loan SuperSport United player joined the Buccaneers on a six-month loan deal in January and has quickly become a key figure in Jose Riveiro’s midfield.
Sources suggest that both the management and technical team are pleased with Mbatha’s partnership with Makhehleni Makhaula and see the duo as a crucial part of their plans for next season.
Mbatha could stay put at the club for the coming season after a stellar run for the Buccaneers. Makhaula, on the other hand, is out of contract next month. However, it looks like the club will renew his deal.
