Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February is on the verge of leaving the club due to a lack of playing opportunities, according to sources close to the Brazilians.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper has yet to make a single appearance under coach Rulani Mokwena this season, and his frustration is reportedly growing. February wasn’t even included in the matchday squad for recent games, prompting him to seek greener pastures.
Upon returning from AmaZulu where he was on loan last season, February found himself outside of Mokwena’s plans. Now, he’s actively seeking regular playing time elsewhere, and a January transfer window exit is a strong possibility.
With his contract expiring in June, February’s representatives are in talks with Sundowns about a potential January move. Sources suggest that both parties are even open to discussing a contract termination to facilitate February’s career progression.
ARE AMAZULU INTERESTED IN JODY FEBRUARY?
Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams is the undisputed number one under Mokwena, while Dennis Onyango and Reyaad Pieterse are ahead of February in the pecking order for the backup spot. The coach’s high regard for Williams makes it unlikely that anyone else will displace him.

Interestingly, AmaZulu, where February enjoyed regular playing time last season, are reportedly interested in reuniting with the Cape Town-born keeper. A permanent deal with Usuthu could be on the cards.
February joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2019 from Cape Town Spurs (formerly Ajax Cape Town) but has spent most of his time on loan at Cape Umoya, Moroka Swallows, and AmaZulu. With his future at Chloorkop uncertain, it seems likely that his journeyman career will take another turn soon.
