While the captain’s armband might rest on Yusuf Maart’s arm, the midfielder was quick to dismiss any notion of solo leadership at Kaizer Chiefs.

Maart champions a different philosophy as he believes everyone at Chiefs embodies leadership qualities, fostering a culture of mutual respect and shared responsibility.

The 28-year-old has been handed the captain’s armband in the absence of Itumeleng Khune and Keagan Dolly.

Dolly is recovering from a long-term injury, while Khune has been suspended due to ill-disciplined. Maart wore the captain’s again when Chiefs played a 1-1 draw with his former club Sekhukhune United.

It was their last game of the year in the DStv Premiership.

With Maart leading the team, Chiefs have picked three wins in a row following victories against Richards Bay FC, Polokwane City and Moroka Swallows. The fourth was the draw against Babina Noko away from home.
