Following his return from injury, Kaizer Chiefs attacker Ashley du Preez has set his sights on a personal scoring spree in the new year.

Du Preez made his long-awaited from injury in Chiefs’ 1-0 win over Richards Bay FC in their most recent game in the DStv Premiership at FNB Stadium.

The 26-year-old played for 23 minutes in his first game since October and impressed as Amakhosi won their third consecutive league clash.

Du Preez, who has made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Soweto giants this season with three goals and two assists to his name has stated that he has only one goal in mind for 2024: to rack up goals for Chiefs.

And as Chiefs prepare to take on Sekhukhune United in their last game of 2023, Du Preez is eager to end the year on a high and build on his Richards Bay performance. Chiefs is set to tackle Sekhukhune on Saturday, December, 30 in the DStv Premiership at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

“I’m going to work extremely hard to help the team get three points to end this year on a high note,” said Du Preez. Ashley du Preez, who quickly became a fan favourite at Kaizer Chiefs since his arrival from Stellenbosch in July 2022, has racked up 12 goals and seven assists in 44 games across all competitions. However, his progress has been halted by several injuries that sidelined him for a while.

“It’s nice to be back from injury,” he added. “It is a huge setback to be injured, mentally it can be frustrating. It’s nice to be back and to get minutes against Richards Bay. “I’m happy we won the game. I’m almost fully back 120%, so to play a few minutes was nice, touching the ball with the team, in front of the fans. I loved it. Now it’s to get goals to help the team win. It’s my ambition for 2024, score more goals.”
