Moroka Swallows FC have sent shockwaves through the South African football world with the sudden cancellation of their upcoming DStv Premiership fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns and Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The Soweto side would have played Sundowns on Wednesday, 27 December, at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Their last game of the year would have been against Arrows on Saturday, 30 December, at Dobsonville Stadium.

In a dramatic turn of events, the club issued an official statement apologising to fans and stakeholders, citing an unresolved dispute between players and management as the reason for the unexpected withdrawal.

The statement says management has requested the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to cancel the remaining matches this year, seeking time to address the dispute internally.
