Cape Town City FC put up a brave fight to stop Mamelodi Sundowns’ winning streak  following a exciting 0-0 stalemate in a match played at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Mamelodi Sundowns are yet to taste defeat this season but Eric Tinkler and his men are walking with springs on their steps, as the first team to avoid defeat against Rulani Mokwena’s charges.

The defending Champions, however remain on top of the league standings with 34 points after 12 matches. Cape Town City on the otherhand, are third on the standings, with 26 points.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs kept their winning momentum when they beat troubled Richards Bay FC 1-0 in a DStv Premiership encounter at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Cavin Johnson appears to have struck the right chords with the Naturena based club whose players are slowly starting to believe in themselves.

They had a decent finish in the first half against a relegation-threatened Richards Bay side where they got their goal courtesy of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

The win saw Amakhosi leaping to sixth place on the log standings with 23 points on their tally after 15 matches. They are now three points behind second-placed SuperSport United.

SUPERSPORT MAINTAIN THEIR DOMINANCE OVER ORLANDO PIRATES

SuperSport United maintained their dominance over Orlando Pirated who they beat 3-1 in a match that was played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.  

Despite conceding first after five minutes, the Gavin Hunt coached side did not panic. Fortune Makaringe had thrust the Soweto giants ahead after five minutes into the game.

But Jose Riveiro’s men crumbled like a deck of cards as wonderkid Shandre Campbell notched a brace, with Bradley Grobler scoring the other goal which they needed to ensure the win.

Campbell restored parity in the 36th minute of the contest before Grobler put them into the lead after 56 minute.

Campbell completed his brace in the 74th minute, to seal a brilliant performance that earned him the Man of the Match Award.

Intrestingly, Pirates are yet to beat SuperSport since 2014. In 13 matches, they managed only three draws while losing on 10 occasions.

In another match, Polokwane City beat Chippa United 2-1 while Royal AM and Moroka Swallows settled for a goalless draw.

Moreso, Nkosikhona Radebe and Samir Nurkovic were on target when TS Galaxy piled more misery on wounded Golden Arrows.
