Kaizer Chiefs interim head coach Cavin Johnson hopes his troops can give their supporters an early Christmas present when they take on Richards Bay FC on Saturday afternoon.
For Johnson, there’s one present bigger than any wrapped beneath the Christmas tree: a gift to the Amakhosi faithful in the form of a thrilling victory at FNB Stadium in Soweto at 15:30.
The Soweto giants coach is plotting a tactical treat, aiming to unleash a football feast that will leave fans dancing long after the final whistle.
Johnson and his men are high on confidence as they head into this clash on the back of two consecutive wins in the DStv Premiership against Moroka Swallows and Polokwane City.
CAN CHIEFS DELIVER EARLY CHRISTMAS JOY FOR THEIR FAITHFUL?
“The back-to-back wins we have are good for Kaizer Chiefs. Since then, we have had a little break and I can tell you there is no shortage of motivation among the players to finish the year on a high,” said Johnson. “We are ready for Saturday’s game.
There might be a few new faces in the team. Ashley (Du Preez) is in the squad so I can see how far he has come in his recovery, and I also have (Tebogo) Potsane and Dillan Solomons in camp.

Cavin Johnson added: “They have a very good coach (Kaitano Tembo) but we are aware of the threats they possess but we believe we can nullify them and come out on top.
“We are at home and we want to put on a good performance for our fans, many of whom are on holiday and deserve to enjoy an entertaining festive season. We want to go out and give our supporters a great Christmas present.”
A with against the Natal Rich Boyz will see Amakhosi register three three consecutive wins for the first time this season.
