Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule remains optimistic about his team’s title chances despite their inconsistent form so far in the 2023/24 season.

Though Pirates currently lag behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, Pule insists they still have the potential to reach their goal.

The Sea Robbers are 11 points adrift of Sundowns as they lay in sixth place after accumulating 19 points. Pirates have played two matches more than Sundowns.

Last season was a resurgent one for Pirates, culminating in a strong second-half finish that propelled them to a second-place finish in the DStv Premiership.

This impressive run, coupled with a remarkable double cup victory in the Nedbank Cup and MTN8, fuelled high expectations amongst fans and pundits who now view the Buccaneers as serious contenders for the league title this season.

However, Orlando Pirates have been on a rollercoaster ride this season, showcasing flashes of brilliance coupled with inconsistency. Their performance record so far reflects this, with 5 wins, 4 draws, and 3 disappointing losses.

Vincent Pule has vowed to fight until the very end of the season, refusing to give up on his team’s chances of winning the title.

“It’s not over until the last game. We have to make sure that we take two points in every game so that we can be up there and compete for the league,” said Pule.

“We should always try to be consistent, I think if we can get consistency in our team, that will help us coming to the second round of the season.

“I think we’ve been doing quite well. The problem has been scoring goals. We have to make sure that we convert our chances, and we create more for our strikers to make sure that they convert the chances.

“Also, as attackers, we must make sure we add into our assists and goals so that we can finish well.”
