With Vladislav Herić having turned down an offer to coach Maritzburg United, former Venda Football Club head coach Simo Dladla has emerged as a frontrunner.

The Team Of Choice are looking to replace Zipho Dlangalala following his exit this week.

The Farouk Kadodia-owned club parted ways with Dlangalala after only 13 games. During that period, the team secured only five wins, four draws and lost four.

In the last six matches they have only won once. The final straw was when a winless Pretoria Callies ran over them 3-1 on Saturday. Callies registered their first win of the season at the expense of the former DStv Premiership team.

Dladla has been unattached since parting ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Club in April. He had joined the Limpopo based outfit in October last year. But the club axed him after a string of poor results.

It’s understood that Maritzburg United have had informal talks with Dladla and a decision on who will be the new coach is expected to be made in the coming days.
