Kaitano Tembo has declared Richards Bay’s intention to take the game to Orlando Pirates when the two teams meet for the second time this season.

Embracing an open and aggressive approach, Richards Bay coach Tembo insinuated that they will abandon their cautious tactics of the past.

Tembo’s men are set to host Pirates in a DStv Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday afternoon and the Bay coach stated that their approach will be different from their Carling Knockout Cup encounter.

In their previous encounter against Pirates in the Carling Knockout, Bay took a cautious low-block strategy, effectively frustrating the Buccaneers’ attacking efforts.

This defensive approach proved successful as the match ended goalless, allowing Richards Bay to emerge victorious on penalties and advance to the semi-finals.

However, with three points at stake and the home ground advantage, Kaitano Tembo hopes that his men will unsettle Bucs and exploit any defensive vulnerabilities by taking initiative and dictating the tempo of the game.

Bay are in the relegation zone, second from last after 12 games with only two wins.

“We are looking forward to the game against Pirates. It is not going to be an easy game. It is going to be a tough match,” said Tembo.

“They are coming off from two good wins against Sekhukhune United, as well as the Soweto Derby (against Kaizer Chiefs), so they are high in confidence.

“It’s a different game. It is a league match and we need the points. That’s the most important thing. They need to try and play to win the game. We are also playing at home. We are ready, we are prepared.

“I think the boys are looking forward to the game. Though it is going to be a tough one, I think we are ready.

“We’ve had two weeks. I think the FIFA break also helped us to regroup and recoup and also make sure some of the players who have some niggling injuries can recover.”
