Cape Town City starlet Kaka Sifumba’s soaring transfer fee is reportedly deterring potential suitors, including Austrian Bundesliga club RB Salzburg.
According to a source, RB Salzburg has expressed interest in acquiring the 18-year-old attacking midfielder from City. However, the club is reportedly hesitant to proceed due to Sifumba’s hefty transfer fee, believed to be in the region of €600 000 [almost R12 million].
Sifumba’s impressive performances for City’s DStv Diski Challenge side have attracted the attention of several European clubs. His pace, dribbling skills, and goal-scoring prowess have made him a highly sought-after player.
This is despite the fact that he has not enjoyed much game time for the Citizens’ DStv Premiership side.
While RB Salzburg remains keen on Sifumba, the club’s financial constraints may prevent them from pursuing the transfer. The asking price is considered excessive for a player of Sifumba’s experience, especially given RB Salzburg’s budget limitations.
The Mother City outfit is reportedly adamant about their valuation of Sifumba, believing that his potential and market value justify the high price tag. The club is determined to secure a substantial fee for their prized asset, who is considered one of South Africa’s most promising young talents.

WHAT OTHER OPTIONS DOES SIFUMBA HAVE?
Kaka Sifumba’s agent is reportedly exploring other options for the player, with clubs in France, Spain, and Portugal also showing interest. However, the transfer fee remains a significant obstacle, and it is unclear whether any club will be willing to meet City’s demands.
If Sifumba’s transfer fee remains a sticking point, he may have to wait until the next transfer window or even the summer of 2024 to secure a move to Europe. For now, he remains focused on his performances with City, hoping to attract further attention from potential suitors.
