After a frustrating spell in the Carling Knockout Cup, Jose Riveiro has already set sights on their upcoming fixture against Sekhukhune United, with high hopes that his men hit the right chords.

The Sea Robbers were bundled out of the Carling Knockout Cup by Richards Bay 5-4 on penalties having settled for a 0-0 draw after extra-time.

This was their second defeat on the bounce in all competitions, having lost 2-1 to Cape Town Spurs in a DStv Premiership match played on Wednesday.

What has frustrated Jose Riveiro is his team’s failure to hit the target, despite getting oppurtunities in good positions.

However, the defiant coach is already looking to rectify the conversion rate in time for their date with Sekhukhune United on Tuesday.

For him, a win would set a perfect stage for the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs, four days later.

“We are playing every three days, and we have to show character in Orlando, where we have a tough game against Sekhukhune [United].

“It’s the end of the story in the Carling Cup. This is a scoring game. Today was a day we needed to score but we tried everything and we couldn’t get it right.

“The ball is not going into the nets. We are creating more than ever but we are getting what we deserve based on putting the ball in the nets. We are not getting it right in that part of the game,” he said.

In the DStv Premiership, Orlando Pirates dropped to 13th position with nine points on their tally in eight games.

They last won on 20 October when they beat Cape Town Spurs in the first round of the Carling Knockout Cup.

That was followed by two draws with AmaZulu and Polokwane City before losing to Spurs and Richards Bay, respectively.
