Former Chippa United gaffer Norman Mapeza has conceded losing Zimbabwe’s PSL title race after four consecutive seasons of dominance, with FC Platinum.

Norman Mapeza and his men have blown hot and cold since the start of the season, and are ten points behind leaders Ngezi Platinum, with five games remaining before the Zimbabwean season ends.

The former Zimbabwe national team captain said his team has a slim 20% chance of overtaking Ngezi Platinum.

They face Chicken Inn who are spurred by former AmaZulu FC coach Joey Antipas on Saturday.

CONCEDING THE PSL TITLE CHASE

“We are facing Chicken Inn on Saturday, they are a very good team. I think they were also having the same challenges just like us, dropping points at some crucial stages of the season,” Mapeza said.

“But for us mathematically maybe our chances of winning the league this season, we put them at 20%.

“We lost some crucial points along the way. If you look at our last three matches, if we really wanted the championship we should have collected a minimum of seven points but it didn’t happen.

“We just take each game as it comes and see what happens in the remaining five games of the season.”

From the last three games, FC Platinum managed to collect one point as they drew with Green Fuel, while losing to ZPC Kariba and Black Rhinos.

MANAGING FIXTURE CONJESTION

That all but dashed his team’s chances. And the former Chilli boys tactician is focused on managing the fixture congestion.

They are playing three games in seven days, against Chicken Inn, Dynamos and Yadah Stars.

“Everybody is okay. Before we went for the break, we did not have concerns in terms of injuries. We take each game as it comes and try to manage the fixture congestion.

“From what I hear we have to play again on Wednesday which is against Dynamos and then we have to play the following weekend against Yadah.

“We just have to manage the fixture congestion. Our fans have been fantastic this season. I am sure they understand the challenges we faced along the way.

“They have been with us through and through. I am someone who appreciates when something good happens. They showed us their character in terms of giving us maximum support,” he added.
