Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly has vowed that the team will make a statement against Golden Arrows following their disappointing Carling Cup defeat last weekend.

Keagan Dolly insists that Chiefs have put the Carling Cup disappointment behind them as they lost 1-0 against AmaZulu FC in the Last 16.

He says Amakhosi are now fully focused on their next match, a league clash against Arrows on Saturday at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal.

“Obviously, we are disappointed from our last game and not qualifying for the next round of the Carling Cup,” said Keagan Dolly.

“But I think this is an important weekend for us. We have to come back and not dwell on the past. If we can win this weekend, we can change our mindset and start winning.”

The Arrows clash will be Chiefs’ first following the departure of coach Molefi Ntseki. Dolly is determined to make a positive fresh start under newly installed interim coach Cavin Johnson.

KAIZER CHIEFS CONFIDENT OF OVERCOMING ARROWS CHALLENGE

“It has been a tough week for the club. For us as players, we have to do our job, which is to win, to get results for the Club, and for ourselves to build confidence for the rest of the season,” he added.

“I feel there is still a long way to go, and that’s why I think this weekend is very important because a win can give us momentum for the remainder of the season.”

And despite a solid start to the season, Dolly sees the match as a springboard from which to launch a surge up the DStv Premiership table.

Chiefs are in eighth place on the log standings with just three wins from nine goals and 11 points. On the other hand, Arrows occupies third spot with seven points.

“They are confident at the moment. I’m sure they will be thinking we are down and out going into this game, but I feel it is for us to show them that we are Kaizer Chiefs and prove to them what we are made of,” declared Dolly.

“We will go there with the mindset of getting nothing less than the three points, and I believe we have the capability to do that. However, we will not underestimate them. We know we will have to work hard, but we are prepared to do what it takes.”
