Despite making history by guiding Sekhukhune United to their first-ever CAF inter-club group stages, Brandon Truter is considering his future as head coach at the club.
Truter cut a dejected figure in the bowels of the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane as his Sekhukhune troops lost 1-0 against Golden Arrows in a DStv Premiership game.
It was Brandon Theron who scored the only goal of the game which made Truter think hard about his future at Sekhukhune United.
The defeat was Sekhukhune’s fourth of the 2023/24 season in eight league games. In the post match interview, Truter insuinated that he needs a conducive environment to thrive as a coach.
TRUTER TO PART WAYS WITH SEKHUKHUNE
As a coach, you always have to have all the answers and you have to have faith and instil belief in the team and in players, but at the same time you’re never short of being criticised, you are never short of being told what to do,” said Truter.
“You are never short also of people telling you what you’re doing wrong but at the end of the day, you have to face the music with mistakes like that in the last third. I thought our approach play, an our build-up play was good until the last third.

“But if the ball don’t want to fall for you right if you have a 3-v-1 with the goalkeeper and still misses and so many chances, the opponent have one shot on target and a goal, then maybe your problem is not on the field.
“That’s what I’m thinking at the moment. I’m really considering my future because we need a conducive environment for the team to grow. At this moment, I’m not the happiest and I’m a bit emotionally charged. And I think that is my interview guys at the moment.”
It remains to be seen if Truter will resign as Sekhukhune coach. And as reported by SoccerNews24, the club’s management is not pleased with Truter’s style of play as he defensive in his approach. The club is currently looking at CV’s of three foreign coaches.
