Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki praised new signing Sibongiseni Mthethwa for his good performance on his debut against Sekhukhune United.
Molefi Ntseki was impressed by Mthethwa’s ‘tactical understanding’ and leadership skills as Chiefs came back from behind to beat Sekhukhune 2-1 in a DStv Premiership game at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Mthethwa played for 26 minutes in the second half, replacing Edson Castillo in his first Amakhosi game since his move from Stellenbosch FC most recently.
Elias Mokwana opened the scoring for Sekhukhune just before the break. However, the Soweto giants put in a good shift in the last 45 minutes, with Castillo and Edmilson Dove getting their names on the scoresheet to seal the victory.
It was Chiefs’ first win in four matches and the first time Sekhukhune coach Brandon Truter suffered a defeat at the hands of Amakhosi.
Ntseki was pleased with how defensive midfielder Mthethwa stabilised the Soweto giants’ midfield and screened the defence effectively.
The Bafana Bafana international is expected to play a big role at Chiefs this season.
