AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has admitted that Cape Town City were the better team on the night in the five-goal thriller on Sunday.

Sede Junior Dion scored a late brace as Usuthu came from behind to beat CT Cuty in a DStv Premiership game at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Mbongeni Gumede was also on the scoresheet for AmaZulu. For CT City, Khanyisa Mayo and Tshegofatso Nyama were on target.

Pablo Franco Martin was happy with the win and three points but claimed that AmaZulu are yet to hit top gear. He also stated that the Citizens did not deserve to lose the game as they put in a good performance and are currently better than AmaZulu FC in terms of play.

The CT City victory was AmaZulu’s second of the new season under the leadership of the Spaniard tactician.

CAPE TOWN CITY BETTER THAN AMAZULU, SAYS FRANCO MARTIN

“We’re very far from the level I want. They were better than us. This is the reality,” said Franco Martin after the game. “I’m honest, I think today they deserved more. And with this, I don’t mean that our players didn’t deserve to win because they fought in the end and took their chances. But I think they are a better team than us right now.

“They are working with two gears in the same idea, and you can’t see the difference. They also have good players with quality on the field. When you are on the field next to them, you feel it, and we suffered a lot.

“But football is about that, to know how to suffer, to know how to overcome difficulties. But we’re still at the beginning of the process. We’re very, very far from the level I want for the team. “But it’s much better to say this, now we’re in a better position. As a coach, I’m demanding. Also, in my personal life, I think if you don’t push yourself, then there’s no way to improve.”
