Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos was disappointed that the match against DR Congo at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday had more fans from the visiting nation than the home team.
In the same vein, Hugo Broos called on South Africans to come out and support Bafana in their upcoming matches.
The senior national team’s 1-0 win over DR Congo in a friendly in Soweto was marred by a lack of support from home fans. The stands were largely filled with Congolese supporters, making it seem like Bafana was playing an away game.
The lack of support from Bafana supporters continued in their 1-0 win over DR Congo on Tuesday, just two days after a poor crowd attended the team’s 0-0 draw against Namibia.
This is the second time in just three days that Bafana have played in front of a disappointingly low number of home fans at Orlando, as on Saturday, they drew 0-0 against Namibia
Some people have suggested that the SA Football Association should move Bafana fixtures away from Gauteng to other parts of the country in order to draw larger crowds.
On the other hand, many have also called on SAFA to improve their marketing and communication departments to attract more supporters.

BAFANA COACH BROOS MAKES PLEA TO SOUTH AFRICANS
“First of all, I had the feeling it’s an away game today,” said Broos. “It’s a little bit disappointing that again, when you see the stadium today [Tuesday night], there were more supporters from Congo than for us.
“I hope in the future that we will have more support. You see today [Tuesday] also when you have the fans behind you, what that can give. Congo believed even more; they grew in the game, and they were supported.
“We have some very difficult moments, and then you need them [the fans]. Again, they were not there or not enough.
“That’s a little bit disappointing, I hope in the future that we can have a better crowd than in the last two games.”
