Renowned biokineticist and conditioning coach Simone Conley has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs wanted to sign her but says the club ‘retracted’ the offer.

Conley claimed that Chiefs took the offer off the table without an explanation and opted to rope Muzi Maluleke as their new strength and conditioning coach in 2022.

She has since joined Saudi Arabian football club Al-Ittihad Ladies as their new biokineticist and conditioning coach.  This comes after a brief spell at Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.

The former Highlands Park and TS Galaxy conditioning coach was also part of the Banyana Banyana technical team in the fitness department at the recently concluded 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. She also formed part of the Banyana set-up at the 2022 COSAFA Cup.

CONLEY OPENS UP ON MISSED CHIEFS OPPORTUNITY

Conley had several potential jobs lined up, including one at Chiefs, but things turned out differently than she imagined. However, she clarified that she doesn’t take all the deals that fell through to heart.

“Coach Benni McCarthy called me once I was released by TS Galaxy and said he wanted to rope me in at AmaZulu because he liked my work,” said Conley, as per Idiski Times.

“But unfortunately, that didn’t materialise because AmaZulu let him go soon after. I also got a call from Kaizer Motaung Jr. He told me they want me as part of the team.

“I went there [Naturena] and did a presentation. They offered me the job, and for some reason, they retracted that two weeks later and went with someone else. They opted for someone else.”

In an interview with the Saturday Star, Simone Conley stated that she also discussed with Orlando Pirates.

However, a deal never transpired as the Soweto giants “brought in an international coach [Jose Riveiro] who brought his technical team, and that bombed too.”
