Orlando Pirates’ new signing, Patrick Maswanganyi, has earned the praise of his coach, Jose Riveiro, after netting his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win over Djabal Club on Friday evening.
Maswanganyi has hit the ground running at Pirates, and the midfielder has impressed many, including Pirates coach Riveiro, with his breathtaking performances.
The 25-year-old has scored one goal and provided two assists in five games this season for Pirates, proving to be a good signing.
Patrick Maswanganyi, who is already a fan favourite, joined the Soweto giants ahead of the new season from SuperSport United.
RIVEIRO FULL OF PRAISE FOR MASWANGANYI
“For me, if I have to highlight something with the new players, new in this environment, playing for Pirates, it’s not an easy thing,” said Riveiro at Orlando Stadium.
The Pirates tactician was addressing the media following his side’s 4-0 aggregate victory against Djabal to proceed to the second round of the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.

Maswanganyi was on the scoresheet, with Zakhele Lepasa netting his second brace of the season. Pirates won the first leg 1-0 away from home in the Comoros.
“[You have to] start to show the level from the first day, and the first game is something to highlight.
“I’m happy to see the progression of the guy [Patrick Maswanganyi]. It’s very important that he’s around good players. It makes it easy for every individual in the team.”
