Kaizer Chiefs’ new Colombian forward, Efmamjjasond González, will arrive in South Africa on Tuesday.

González featured in his last Bolivian Primera Division match for his former club, Real Santa Cruz, on Saturday.

The 24-year-old striker was awaiting the issuing of his work visa following Chiefs’ announcement of his signing on a season-long loan deal last week.

The Colombian forward played the entire match, his 16th league appearance for the Santa Cruz-based outfit. Down to 10-man, after 19-year-old winger Fabricio Moreno got marching orders in the 31st minute, they lost 5-0 to Oriente Petrolero.

WHY EFMAMJJASOND GONZÁLEZ’S ARRIVAL IS IMPORTANT FOR CHIEFS

At the time of the red card, Santa Cruz was trailing 2-0, and González could not do much to help them.

The result left them in sixth place with 34 points off 22 games in the 17-team league.

According to an SN24 source, the Antioquia-born forward jets in at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

“He’s finally received his visa and is eligible to come and start playing for Kaizer Chiefs. He’ll be arriving on Tuesday in Johannesburg,” the source said.

His arrival could significantly boost Amakhosi, who went down 1-0 to TS Galaxy on Sunday.

With several chances created, the Soweto giants struggled to convert. Their situation was worsened by the injury of new striker Ranga Chivaviro.

The former Marumo Gallants forward could not continue after 36 minutes with what seemed like a hamstring injury.

The arrival of the South American forward could be timely with Chivaviro out.

Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki could be tempted to throw in the Colombian forward on Saturday against AmaZulu FC.

He could consider giving his new man a run upfront, with his number nine likely to be ruled out for the game.

Chiefs have scored three goals in four matches this season. Ashley Du Preez, who missed the TS Galaxy match because of flu, scored two. Venezuelan midfielder Edson Castillo scored the other.

González will add much-needed firepower to Chiefs’ attack.
