Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Colombian forward Efmamjjasond Gonzáles Palacios in an effort to bolster their attack.
The announcement comes just a day after the club confirmed the exit of Burundian marksman Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana.
The Burundi international spent a season at Amakhosi, managing eight goals in 17 starts.
However, that was not enough to earn another season in the Glamour Boys’ colours. The club has since cast its eye to South America where they have signed the 24-year-old Gonzáles.
He has been playing his football in Bolivia for Real Santa Cruz and the current season has been his breakthrough term.
Gonzáles has registered eight goals in 11 appearances this season, attracting the interest of the South African giants.
KAIZER CHIEFS CONFIRM NEW SIGNING
In a statement, the club confirmed his signing, adding they expected his arrival “soon”. Indications are that he is yet to receive his visa to travel to South Africa.
However, the process has started and he is expected to arrive at the weekend.
“With the season already underway, Kaizer Chiefs continue to bolster their squad by announcing the signing of Efmamjjasond Gonzáles Palacios from Colombia, as they prepare to compete strongly in 2023/24,” read a club statement.

“The forward, simply known as Jasond González, is the second player from Colombia to sign for Amakhosi. He joins the team a year after his fellow countryman, Leonardo Castro, departed South Africa.
“González, who was plying his trade in the Bolivian Primera Division for Real Santa Cruz, is expected to arrive in South Africa soon to start his career as a Glamour Boy.”
He becomes the second Colombian to join the club after Castro, who also had a stint with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs will be expecting the South American to hit the ground running as they look to rekindle the glory days.
