The arrival of Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing, Efmamjjasond González, has been delayed due to visa issues, SN24 can reveal.
Chiefs recently concluded a deal to sign the Colombian forward on a season-long contract, albeit with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old striker was expected to join the South African club last week, but the South African Department of Home Affairs has held up his visa application.
WHY EFMAMJJASOND GONZALEZ VISA HAS BEEN DELAYED
González is a highly-rated striker who has been playing in Bolivia. He scored eight goals in 11 appearances for Real Santa Cruz this season. Chiefs were hoping he could boost their attack, which has struggled in recent seasons.
A club source said that they are working with the South African government to try to get González’s visa approved as soon as possible.

“We are disappointed that Efmamjjasond’s arrival has been delayed, but we are confident that he will be able to join us soon,” the source said.
The visa delays are a blow to Chiefs, who are already without some key players due to injuries. They will be hoping that González can join the team as soon as possible and help them to improve their performance in the PSL.
KAIZER CHIEFS’ INJURED PLAYERS
In the meantime, Chiefs will continue to use their other strikers, such as Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley Du Preez. The club will also hope their injured players, such as Keagan Dolly, can return to action soon.
The visa delays are because South Africa has no embassy in Colombia, and the documents have had to be sent to neighbouring Venezuela.
