Marumo Gallants look set to appoint Pitso Dladla as their new coach ahead of the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Dladla, who has previously coached Richards Bay, takes over from Dylan Kerr, who left at the end of the season.

Raymond Mdaka, who held fort in the CAF Confederation for Marumo, also left the club following their relegation.

Gallants were demoted last season after a fairytale run in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they reached the semi-final.

The Limpopo side were knocked out by Young Africans of Tanzania after the two-legged clash.

Veteran coach Sammy Troughton was responsible for preparing the team for the new season.

The club held trials after selling most of their players from last season. Goalkeeper Washington Arubi is now with SuperSport United, Lucky Mohomi joined Richards Bay, and Celimpilo Ngema is at AmaZulu.

Ranga Chivaviro and Katlego Otladisa went to Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Troughton was assisted by Sly Mosala, who worked as an assistant coach last season.

However, SN24 can confirm that the two have since left the club after they could not agree terms with the former DStv Premiership outfit.

“Sly and Sammy have left the club because they couldn’t agree with management. On Monday, the players were introduced to Pitso Dladla, who will take charge this season,” a source said.

The former Uthongathi coach will be tasked to bring Marumo back to the elite league.

Dladla’s appointment is the latest in a series of changes at Marumo Gallants. The club has also brought in Ronnie Moroka.

King Ndlovu has rejoined the club after parting ways with Maritzburg United. Marumo will open up their 2023/24 season with an away encounter against Casric Stars on 27 August.

The club is making moves to improve its fortunes and hoping that Dladla can lead them to success.
