Kaizer Chiefs are fired up and raring to go ahead of their MTN8 quarter-final clash against Cape Town City this afternoon.

The game is set to be played at Athlone Stadium at 15:00 with Amakhosi’s gunning for nothing but a victory after a disappointing start to the new season in the league.

In their first two matches of the 2023/24 season, Chiefs drew 0-0 against Chippa and lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns in their last game.

However, Molefi Ntseki said the mood in the Kaizer Chiefs camp is positive as his troops are eager to win the MTN8, starting by beating the Citizen.

“Coming off a loss against Sundowns we are fired up. We have seen the areas we need to improve on,” said Chiefs coach Ntseki.

“We’ve done our analysis of our own team and we are looking forward to giving a good performance against Cape Town City and a good performance will definitely give us good results.
“We would really appreciate winning this game and going into the next round because our objective is to win this Cup and winning this Cup will mean we have to dig very deep tactically, mentally and physically.

NTSEKI CONFIDENT OF VICTORY AGAINST CT CITY

“I think we are up for it. It comes at the right time after we played such a solid team, a team that has played together for years. And for us, in terms of our performance in the second half, we showed that we have the qualities to carry us on to the next level.”

In addition, Ntseki provided a brief injury update without giving much way in terms of player availability.

He did reveal that preparations for the CT City game went well and they are ready and looking forward to producing a good display of football.

“We are looking forward to playing in the semi-finals and the final,” he declared. “Our squad is in good shape, though we are struggling with some niggling injuries. But we’ve prepared everybody in the pre-season, in terms of our approach and tactical formation.

“We have able players who can add value to the team and play to win, which is very important to us, the supporters and the management of the club. Winning will be the only thing for us tomorrow.”
