Utility player Dillan Solomons is confident that Kaizer Chiefs’ new signings will help the club end its long trophy drought in the 2023/24 season.
According to Dillan Solomons, Chiefs recent transfer activity is a clear sign of intent to challenge for silverware.
The Soweto giants last tasted success in the 2014/15 season under Stuart Baxter when they won the league title.
“It’s been very difficulttimes for Kaizer Chiefs not winning trophies in about seven or eight seasons,’” said Solomons. “I think this season is different, the cohesion is there. We got to know the new players very well.”
Chiefs’ new signings are Mduduzi Mdantsane, Tebogo Potsane, Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Edson Castillo, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro.
As per reports, the club is not yet done in the transfer market, as they are set to bring in Gabadinho Mhango and Thabo Cele to strengthen the squad further.

“We had different types of camps,” added Solomons. “We are going into this season well-equipped and ready for whatever comes our way. We’ve made the necessary signings even though we already had players in every position.
“But it was about strengthening and creating that competition so that players can step up. The arrival of new players is upping everyone’s game because you know that there’s competition.”

In addition, Solomons said that the Glamour Boys’ playing style will likely remain the same under the new man in charge, Molefi Ntseki. The latter took over from Arthur Zwane, who has since been re-deployed to his old post of assistant coach.
Ntseki will take charge of his first match as Chiefs head coach in a DStv Premiership clash against Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, 6 August.
“The identity stays the same. Kaizer Chiefs want to play one way and one way only. We are a possession-based team. Obviously, a new coach comes with his new ideas, but I doubt that will change the way we play,” declared Solomons.
