AmaZulu FC are reportedly interested in signing Richards Bay winger Sanele Barns ahead of the new DStv Premiership season.

The 26-year-old plays for Richards Bay, but his contract expires at the end of the 2023/24 season.

He signed a two year deal when joining the club at the start of the 2022/23 season.

Barns was in good form for the Natal Rich Boyz last season, scoring four goals in 16 appearances. He is a versatile attacker who can play in several positions across the frontline.

AMAZULU KEEN ON SANELE BARNS

AmaZulu are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2023/24 season. They have already signed midfielder Rowan Human from Maritzburg United on the back of a good performance at the COSAFA Cup held in Durban earlier this month.

Usuthu beat Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United and Cape Town Spurs to the signature of the highly rated Bafana Bafana midfielder, Human.

With Human’s deal done, they have now set their sights on Barns. The Tweefontein-born star is a highly-rated footballer and would be an excellent addition to AmaZulu’s squad. He is a good passer of the ball and good at dribbling and creating chances.

The dynamic winger’s trademark, however, is his blistering pace, coupled with the dribbling skills, and the knack for scoring all-important goals.

COULD INJECT NEW ENERGY

The addition of the speed merchant could inject fresh energy into the Durban side’s attack and provide the creative spark needed to unlock defences. His blistering pace and ability to deliver accurate crosses would bolster their goal-scoring opportunities.

If AmaZulu FC can sign Barns, it would be a big boost for their chances of success next season.

The transfer is still in the early stages, but it is one to watch. If AmaZulu can sign Barns, it would be a significant coup for the club.

While Richards Bay would want to hold onto him, they know in January he will be free to sign a pre-contract.
