Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa is excited about the prospect of reuniting with coach Steve Komphela at Moroka Swallows.
Tshegofatso Mabasa, who is out of favour at Pirates, is set for another loan stint away from the club ahead of the new season.
The forward said he would love to work with Komphela again as the experienced coach can get him to perform at his best
Mabasa, who spent last season on loan at Sekhukhune United, starred for Bafana Bafana at the 2023 COSAFA Cup in Durban. He walked away with the top goal scorer award with Zambian forward Albert Kangwanda after they both scored three goals apiece.
And with his future at Pirates unclear, he said he is open to the idea of working with Komphela at Moroka Swallows.
Mabasa worked with Steve Komphela at Bloemfontein Celtic in 2018 and 2019, where the striker scored goals for fun.
MABASA ON WORKING WITH KOMPHELA
“So far, I can’t mention anything on that yet (joining Swallows). I’m going back to Joburg, and I will sit down with my agent and see what options we have and take it from there,” said Mabasa.

“I love coach Steve. He is one of the best coaches in the country; yes, people criticise him for not winning trophies before, but he is one of the best coaches, to be honest. How many players are coming from his coaching and went on to do well?
“It will definitely be a great opportunity to be working with him again. As of yet, I don’t know anything. I will only know when I’m back and [after speaking] with my agent.
“I’m getting my game back where it used to be, and I believe it is exactly what I have done so far, and I will continue to work hard and to improve from this,” added the 26-year-old Mabasa.
