Decorated coach Pitso Mosimane has sent a message to Steve Komphela after his surprise switch from Mamelodi Sundowns to Swallows FC.

Komphela vacated his position as Sundowns’ first-team coach to take up the head coach role at Swallows. 

This comes after rumours surfaced recently that there was bad blood between Komphela and Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena. 

WHO KOMPHELA WILL WORK WITH

It has been reported that Mokwena did not want Komphela ahead of of the new season. 

Swallows FC announced Komphela’s arrival on Sunday, while his former club, Sundowns, wished him all the best in Soweto.

At the Dube Birds, Komphela will work with Musa Nyatama, who has been demoted from head coach to assistant coach at the Soweto side.

PITSO MOSIMANE CONGRATULATES KOMPHELA

Ditheko Mototo will also assist the former Kaizer Chiefs coach as Swallows look to put up a serious challenge in the upcoming 2023/24 season. 

Komphela, who had stints at Amakhosi, Bloemfontein Celtic and Maritzburg United, will be formally introduced to the Swallows FC family on Tuesday.

Mosimane has backed Komphela to succeed at Swallows. “Yes, my Coach. You have the ability, mentality and broad shoulders to adapt and succeed,” he said. 

Komphela was Mosimane’s assistant coach at Bafana Bafana back several years ago. Mosimane strongly believes Komphela will add value at Swallows with his experience in SA’s topflight 

“Trust the process, and the outcome will sort itself. Don’t look any further, Gavin Hunt is a very good example.  You are also surrounded by great personalities, Davids Mogashoa and Panyaza Lesufi. 

“Fear Nothing, Go tla siama [Everything will go accordingly]. That’s what my Mother in law always tells me every time I take on a new challenge. Up the Birds; Swallows,” added Mosimane, who is the head coach of Al Wahda coach in the UAE.
