SuperSport United have beefed up their midfield department with acquisitions from two of South Africa’s biggest clubs, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

The Tshwane side is reinforcing their squad for the new season as they are set to compete in five competitions including the CAF Confederation Cup. 

Gavin Hunt’s men concluded the 2022/23 season in third place in the DStv Premiership to qualify to play in the Confed Cup. 

In addition, Matsatsantsa a Pitori will also participate in the Carling Cup, Nedbank Cup, MTN8 and Premiership.

SUPERSPORT BOOST MIDFIELD AHEAD OF NEW SEASON 

And in an effort to ensure that they compete rather than just add numbers, SuperSport have signed Siphesihle Ndlovu and Phathutshedzo Nange, SoccerNews24 can reveal.

Ndlovu joins SuperSport United on a permanent deal. The 26-year-old midfielder spent the just-ended season at the club from Pirates.

He featured in 22 leagues for SuperSport, doing enough to impress Hunt as he has now earned himself a longer deal after a frustrating spell at Pirates where he was a benchwarmer. 

Ndlovu arrived at the Buccaneers from Maritzburg United in 2017 and played he featured in 21 league games for Pirates in his first season. However, he was constantly being overlooked in the following campaign and eventually headed towards the exit door.

Furthermore, this publication can also confirm that Nange will reunite with Hunt. The midfielder has penned a contract with SuperSport. 

He moves to Tshwane on a free transfer after his Chiefs contract expired at the end of last season. Nange made 31 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs in two seasons. The club cited injuries for releasing the player. 

Nange previously worked with SuperSport coach Hunt at the now-defunct Bidvest Wits and Amakhosi. 

Hunt will look to Ndlovu and Nange to lead SuperSport in the midfield in the upcoming season as they have played in Africa at their previous clubs.
