Orlando Pirates have made their intention to challenge for all trophies on offer in the upcoming season clear with a major statement in the transfer market.

The Soweto giants are gunning for the DStv Premiership having won a cup double in the 2022/23 season; the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.

And despite clinching two of the three trophies on offer, Jose Riveiro and Miguel Timm stated that they were not happy, an indication that they want to compete with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates finished last campaign in second place to confirm their return to the CAF Champions League. However, Sundowns won the league, 16 points clear of Bucs and that did not sit well with Riveiro, who made it clear that the ultimate goal is the Premiership title.

The Spanish coach has added several quality players to his squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.

On Tuesday evening, Pirates announced the strong acquesitions of Marumo Gallants star Katlego Otladisa and Bafana Bafana international Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy.

In addition, they also added Sephelo Baloni from All Stars and  Patrick Maswanganyi of SuperSport United.

The 26-year-old Otladisa was one of the stand out players in the PSL last season with his pace and creativity. He started 28 of Gallants’ 30 league matches. On the other hand, Buthelezi kept 10 clean sheets in 21 league games.
