Siyabonga Ngezana has written an emotional farewell message following his departure from Kaizer Chiefs.

The Soweto giants announced on Thursday that Ngezana will be joining Romanian giants, Fotbal Club FCSB for an “undisclosed fee”.

Ngezana said the move to the 26-time Romanian champions and former European title holders was the hardest decision he has ever had to make.

However, the Vaal-born defender admitted that he was pleased that he left Amakhosi in good faith and with the blessing of the club’s management.

The 25-year-old defender is the second Chiefs player to head out the exit door following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season after Erick Mathoho.

Siyabonga Ngezana expressed his gratitude to the Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung and the rest of team, including the coaches.

“I don’t know whether to cry or be happy,” Ngezana wrote his Instagram account. “I had many mixed emotions about the decision I took for my future. “This [leaving Chiefs] has been the toughest decision I’ve taken for me and my family.

“But I always envisaged leaving on the right terms in the right way and at the right time and that is now. Growing up supporting this team, it was a dream come true to be a part of it. The experiences of highs and lows created great memories of brotherhood.

“I will never put into words the love and support I got from this family of Kaizer Chiefs and the fans since day one till this day of my departure.

“Thanks to the coaches who coached me in the past for guidance and words of wisdom [to the] likes of coach Steve Khompela, Giovanni Solinas, Ernst Middendorp, Gavin Hunt, Dillon Shepard and Arthur Zwane,” he added.

Ngezana spent seven season in the Chiefs first team having made a memorable debut in 2017 against Mamelodi Sundowns as he scored a goal. The Chiefs academy graduate made 123 appearances at the club, netting six goals, while contributing one assist.

He further stated that he has grown as a player. “I came here [at Chiefs] as a young boy now I’m leaving as a man,” declared Ngezana.
