Yanga president Hersi Ally Said has addressed coach Nasreddine Nabi’s future at the club amid Kaizer Chiefs links.

Nabi’s services are in demand as he has proven to be a top tactician with the ability to win trophies.

The Tunisian coach won six trophies in two seasons at Young Africans. In the just-ended season in Tanzania Nabi won a treble including the league title. Before he clinched his second league trophy, Yanga had failed to win it in four years.

In addition, Nasreddine Nabi led Yanga to the final of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they lost to USM Alger on the away goals rule.

As a result of his success in Tanzania, Nabi has attracted interest from a number of teams including in the Middle East and on the African continent.

One of the teams is SA giants Kaizer Chiefs, who have already made contact with the coach. The latest is that Amakhosi and Nabi are discussing personal terms.

On the other hand, Yanga boss Hersi Ally Said stated that they will hold contract extension talks with Nabi now that the season has concluded.

The Yanga president said that they are not surprised by the interest shown in Nabi by other teams as the coach they “built something incredible” with the coach in the last two and a half years.

“Considering our success as a club in the last two years, it comes as no surprise that clubs would be interested in him,” he said.

“We’ve had a packed fixture schedule in a season where we’ve played 55 games. So the coach’s new contract hasn’t been discussed although we have made our intentions to extend known to him.”

It seems Nabi is weighing his options with Chiefs in the picture. He is set to have a second meeting with the Soweto giants’ management this week.

Chiefs are looking for an experienced coach after a poor 2022/23 season under Arthur Zwane.

They finished fifth in the league, failing to win silverware and qualify for the CAF interclub competition. Their trophy drought stretches to eight seasons.
