Former Orlando Pirates striker Bernard Morrison has said why he believes Young Africans; Yanga coach Nasreddine Nabi has the mental strength to stand the heat at Kaizer Chiefs.
Kaizer Chiefs have linked with Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi to replace Arthur Zwane as their head coach.
Morrison said the passion of Yanga fans for the game that drives them to fill up stadiums everywhere the team plays has adequately prepared their Tunisian coach to deal with the kind of pressure found at Naturena.
“Coaching or playing for Young Africans is almost the same as being at Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs don’t even have this kind of support at all their games,” said Morrison.
“Here you find these (big) numbers at all their games. Pressure comes from the fans and the numbers at Yanga games are more than those at most Chiefs games.”
Coach Nasreddine Nabi tried and trusted
The 30-year-old striker said Nabi was a tried and trusted coach who knows how to deal with highly pressurised coaching jobs.
“He knows that for these big clubs, just one draw, one loss you are gone. So he knows the pressure that comes with it,” added Morrison, who plays under Nabi at Yanga.
He believes that spending a successful two years with the Tanzania giants has proved Nabi’s qualities as a coach.
“Now that he has been here for almost two years, I think he is ready to go to any other big club in South Africa,” added Morrison.
“He (Nabi) knows the pressure and that he has to deliver, if not they will replace him. So he must be ready for whatever comes his way.
Nabi has had a highly successful season with Young Africans, which is in direct contrast to the below-par season his suitors Kaizer Chiefs endured under Zwane.
