Castillo has been on Chiefsā€™ radar since January and the club has reopened discussions with the player.

It has been reported that Chiefs were eager to sign Castillo, who was a free agent at the time in January after leaving Caracas. However, the deal fell through and he re-joined his ex-club Monagas on a short-term deal.

Chiefs are making great efforts to sign the midfielder with several media reports stating that the DStv Premiership club has agreed personal terms with Venezuela international.Ā

Venezuela replacement Njabulo Blom

He is seen as a perfect replacement for Njabulo Blom who left Chiefs for Major League Soccer side St Louis City SC.

Deemed as ‘technically gifted’, with a good work rate and an eye for goal, the 29-year-old Castillo can be deployed in a six or eight role.

On the international level, he made his debut for Venezuela back in 2021 in the Copa America.Ā
