Recently crowned DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the departure of Andile Jali from the club.
Jali has been the subject of speculation, with his contract set to expire on the 30th of June, 2023.
The midfield maestro stopped training with Sundowns a few months ago, citing disciplinary issues.
INTEGRAL PART OF MASANDAWANA
Jali was an integral part of Masandawana’s success during the 2021/22 campaign as he helped the club to clinch a treble.
Additionally, the former Bafana Bafana international went on to win big at the 2022 PSL awards.
He scooped the DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season, MTN8 Last Man Standing and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament.
Jali seemingly fell out of favour at Sundowns in the just-ended season under the guidance of Rulani Mokwena.
The club appointed Mokwena as the sole head coach in October 2022. Meanwhile, Teboho Mokoena has been the preferred choice in the central midfield position.
Mokoena’s outstanding season has earned him a Footballer of the Season award nomination.
The Chloorkop-based side announced in the club statement the departure of Jali on Saturday, 27 May.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS ANNOUNCE PARTING WAYS WITH ANDILE JALI
“The contract between Mamelodi Sundowns and Andile Ernest Jali, which was due to conclude at the end of the current season, has been terminated by mutual consent,” the club confirmed in a statement.
“The former Bafana Bafana international joined Sundowns in June 2018 ahead of the 2018/19 seasons. He has been at Chloorkop for five (5) campaigns.

“During his stay at Sundowns, the midfielder played 142 matches and has been crowned a champion five (5) times, making him one of the most decorated players in the PSL.
“The influential player was part of two domestic treble-winning Sundowns teams and achieved the same feat before he joined the Club.
“We thank Andile for his contribution and wish him well for the future. The Club and its supporters will fondly remember his performances for Ka Bo Yellow.”
