Orlando Pirates are considering sending an out of favour striker on loan next season.

The Buccaneers have some players who played elsewhere during the 2022/23 campaign.

Tshegofatso Mabasa, Kwame Peprah, Ntsako Makhubela, Zakhele Lepasa and Boitumelo Radiopane spent the season on loan.

Pirates are considering sending out-of-favour players elsewhere in the new season to get the much-needed game time.

MAROU SOUAIBOU SET TO GO ON LOAN

An SN24 source told this publication that the Soweto giants are looking at loaning out their Cameroonian striker Marou Souaibou.

A source indicated that a loan move to his previous club Coton Sport could be on the cards for the 22-year-old attacker.

Marou joined the Soweto giants during the January transfer window this year from Cameroonian giants Coton Sport.

He penned a two-and-a-half-year contract, although he struggled to cement his spot in head coach Jose Riveiro’s starting lineup.

Since joining Orlando Pirates, Marou has struggled for regular game time and to replicate the form that made him a household name back home. In the pecking order, he is behind Monnapule Saleng, Terrence Dzvukmanja and Kermit Erasmus.

He came to South Africa after a three-year stint with his former club Coton Sport. During that stint, he won two league titles, including the Player of The Season award in 2022.

His form in the Cameroonian League did not go unnoticed, as he was selected for the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad that competed in Qatar.

Sources have indicated that head coach Riveiro wants to hold on to the player’s services.

YET TO SCORE A SINGLE GOAL

In planning for his future, the lanky forward is understood to be also concerned about his lack of game time. He has only made four appearances in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign and has failed to score a single goal.

Marou’s lack of game time has resulted in him losing his place in Rigobert Song’s Cameroon squad. He did not feature in the last five matches for Bucs.

His last appearance was when he came on as a substitute against Cape Town City last month in a 2-1 win. Marou is the second Cameroonian striker on Pirates’ books after Bienvenu Eva Nga. Now it remains to be seen where Marou’s destination will be next season.
