Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has failed to save SV Meppen from relegation, while his last PSL club, Swallows FC survived the chop.
Middendorp deserted the Dube Birds in their time of need in March to join the third German Liga-side.
The Soweto side were faced with a relegation battle as they were fighting for their status in the DStv Premiership.
The former Maritzburg United coach took Meppen off the bottom but it wasn’t mathematically enough to avoid the drop.
SVM IN BOTTOM FOUR BRACKET
SVM have managed to get to 34 points, with two games remaining, which means they can only reach 40 points, putting them in the bottom four relegation bracket.
The relegation was confirmed on Saturday even though they still got two games remaining against SG Dynamo Dresden and SC Freiburg.
SVM play in Bundesliga 3 and were founded in 1912 as Amisia Meppen. They play their games at the MEP Arena in Northern Meppen on Lathener Strasse.
On the other hand, Middendorp left Maswaiswai in 14th place after a 4-1 loss to Orlando Pirates, with eight games to go. He was in charge of 10 DStv Premiership games, winning three, drawing two and losing five.
Former Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila was then appointed as technical advisor to the Dube Birds.

FINISHING IN EIGHTH PLACE
He would work with interim coach Musa Nyatama and the pair have since then avoided relegation.
They surpassed expectations when they booked a place in the MTN8 after finishing in eighth place.
It is certainly not the fairytale ending that Middendorp was hoping for after returning to his native Germany.
He will have to wait and see if the club will keep him after getting the chop. The German has previously coached club including Maritzburg United, Golden Arrows, Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs.
With Chiefs, he came close to winning the league title, only losing it on the last day of the 2019/20 season.
