Despite guiding Al Ahli Saudi back to the topflight, Pitso Mosimane’s future with the club hangs in the balance.
Mosimane joined Ahli in October 2022 with his sole mission to guide the team back to the Saudi Pro League.
This was after the team was axed from the topflight at the end of last season. That has been achieved with the four games to go, but the hierarchy of the Once Mighty Ahli is pondering the future of the South African.
WHY PITSO MOSIMANE’S FUTURE IS HANGING IN THE BALANCE
A report on Goal Arabic claims Al Ahli’s President Walid Moaz could “betray” the former Al Ahli mentor.
When ‘Jingles’ joined the Jeddah-based outfit, he penned a one-year deal. The two parties would then engage to decide whether to extend or not.
That contract will run out at the end of next month, with indications that the club has been talking to other coaches.
Fulham coach Marco Silva, and former Al Hilal gaffer Razvan Lucescu, who won the treble in 2019/20, are some of the coaches linked with the job.
Lucescu guided Odion Ighalo’s Al Hilal to the Saudi Pro League title, the Saudi King Cup and the AFC Champions League three years ago.
AHLI SO UNPREDICTABLE
The article further claims they also spoke to Vladimir Petković, formerly with Italy’s Lazio, adding that the Jeddah outfit’s management “is so unpredictable”.
In a wide-ranging interview with Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000, Mosimane directed questions on his future with the club to his agent Moira Tlhagale.

She said: “I think South Africa knows that normally we wake up and then there is an action, so let’s not spoil the surprise. Let’s leave it at that. We’re still cooking some stuff.”
When asked whether the future was in Saudi Arabia, she added: “Wherever. The mission has been accomplished but where to from here? Let’s just leave it, we’ll announce.”
