Lamontville Golden Arrows are mulling on a future with an Orlando Pirates star.
The Durban outfit is interested in keeping Ntsako Makhubela permanently at the club.
The midfielder is spending the 2022/23 Dstv Premiership season on loan at the Kwazulu Natal based side from Pirates.
ORLANDO PIRATES STAR MAKHUBELA TO RETURN
Makhubela will make his return to the Buccaneers at the end of the current campaign.
An SN24 source told this publication that Arrows are looking to secure the signature of Makhubela on a permanent basis, with the player’s loan spell with the club set to come to an end in June 30 this year.
According to a source, management at Arrows are looking at approaching the Bucs for a permanent transfer of the player.
“They’ve asked him how he would feel about extending his stay there. He’s open to it because he feels he wants to be where he can play football week in, week out. He actually moved with his family to Durban so it says he’s comfortable there and would easily make it permanent,” the source said.
The 29-year-old, who is comfortable in midfield and out wide, came through Pirates’ development before going on to make a name for himself at Golden Arrows.
After establishing himself a one of the hottest properties in South African football, the diminutive winger was then brought back to Pirates at the start of the 2021/22 season.
However, the reunion was somewhat underwhelming.
JOINED ARROWS ON LOAN
He made only 16 appearances last season. Only nine were starts.

The Soweto born player’s performances have improved greatly under Arrows’ technical team at Abafana Be’sthende. He joined Arrows on loan in January 2023 after failing to make an official appearance for Pirates this season, although he featured in the Carling Black Label.
‘Never Say Die’, as he is affectionately known in football circles, was the star of the show when Arrows came from behind to beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 in February at Peter Mokaba Stadium scoring once and setting up the winner.
He was one of the outstanding performers in the Arrows side in 2020/21 campaign that finished in fourth place in the inaugural DStv Premiership, a record high in their South African top flight history.
Prior to joining Arrows he had made his mark at Real Kings in the South African second tier and his great performances at the now defunct club earned him the move to Arrows.
Arrows’ next game is against AmaZulu FC on Saturday 13 May 2023 at Princess Magogo Stadium. Kick-off 15:00.
They are in ninth place and are pushing for a top eight finish.
