Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that an important trio will miss their next league match against Swallows FC.

Zwane had one day to prepare the team after their win over Chippa United away from home last week on Thursday.

Nonetheless, Zwane is upbeat they will get the job done when they welcome Swallows at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

But they will have to do it without their three key players.

“We are missing Brandon (Petersen) because of suspension, and we are missing other players because of injuries, such as (Edmilson) Dove, and Keagan (Dolly) is going to be out for the rest of the season. We have other players fighting their way back to full fitness,” Zwane told the club’s website.

Zwane hinted that fan favourite Itumeleng Khune will guard the goals for Chiefs in the absence of Petersen.

Arthur Zwane Kaizer Chiefs cocach at a conference.

“We’ll approach the game in the same way as we have before and bring in Itu (Khune) and will try to start with more or less the same team that started against Chippa, because we did not have time to prepare.

“We’re playing games back-to-back and once you’re in that situation you don’t want to make too many changes, except for enforced changes, and that’s how we’ve prepared the team,” he explained.

He admits playing against teams fighting relegation is never easy as they tend to “fight for their lives”.

He called on his charges to, once again, bring their A-game to get maximum points.

Kaizer Chiefs are vying for a second place finish to get that CAF Champions League spot.

Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United are also fighting for the spot.

The three teams would have been encouraged seeing two DStv Premiership teams go through to the semi-finals of the CAF inter-club competitions.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Marumo Gallants both made it to the semis of the Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
