Former Brentford FC holding midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo has opened up on Kaizer Chiefs’ decision to snub him when he returned to South Africa.
Kamohelo Mokotjo was initially offered to Chiefs, who were on the verge of losing Njabulo Blom.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder was thought to be a perfect replacement for Blom, who later joined MLS side St Louis City in December.

However, Chiefs reportedly cited the age issue when they decided against signing him.
The SuperSport United Academy graduate recently turned 32, having spent the last 13 years playing football overseas.
“I didn’t know what to make of it [the snub]. I saw a lot of things in the media, and yeah, that was that I think that a certain perception of me, you know, that I didn’t get,” Kamohelo Mokotjo told iDiski Times.
He confirmed that there were talks between his management and the Soweto giants.
However, the talks were “not fruitful”, with the talented midfielder ending up at Sekhukhune United.
At Babina Noko, he has played 482 minutes of football in his first five months at the club.
United coach Brandon Truter had to ease him into the team as he had just returned from injury, handing him four starts and four substitute appearances.
“I think that’s God’s plan. And yeah, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be now,” he added.
Before joining United, he had last played competitive football in November 2021 for MLS side Cincinnati.
He feels the long-term injury he was dealing with may have contributed to the reluctance to sign him by Chiefs.
“You were injured for so and so. So you need to get back into the system… And start playing? You know, I cannot control what other people think.”
He knows the only thing he can control is himself, and he reveals he does so “by being on the pitch and doing what I do”.
