Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has made an honest admission after the 2-1 loss to Stellenbosch FC in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
Stellies now come against Cape Town-born coach Brandon Truter and his Sekhukhune United in the semi-finals.
The match will be played at the Danie Craven Stadium or Athlone Stadium. Mokwena witnessed his first defeat as head coach in his 24th game, a feeling he admits the team and himself are not used to.
Stellenbosch goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt’s own goal was induced by a wonder strike by Downs Aubrey Modiba and was overturned by a second-half Iqraam Rayners timely brace.
“Let’s congratulate Stellenbosch, and I wish them all the best for the rest of the cup,” Mokwena told the media.
“Today, we didn’t deserve to win, and that is a competitive sport. If someone is better than you, you put your hands up, congratulate them and wish them all the best.
“They were not much better, but they were better. We lost a lot of the duels today from the first minute, but okay, we go [on]. As I said, congratulations to Stellenbosch and I wish them all the best.”

Masadawana’s form going into the first leg of the CAF Champions League encounter against CR Belouizdad will be a huge concern.
They have only won one game in the last five matches in all competitions. With their last win evident against Coton Sport in the group stages.
Meanwhile, in the domestic cup, Stellies will now play in their maiden semi-final in a cup game ever. Kaizer Chiefs have been drawn against Orlando Pirates in the second semi-final of the Nedbank Cup.
